The rights that are not observed in the film is the acepptation of the people that have some physical or mind problems.
Normal people don´t realize that the are as normal as them and the don´t deserved to be treate like they do. It's not them fault to be like them.

century but can this happen nowadays?

b)We are equal but unique. What human values should be
worked for a better understanding of differences between us?

c)Should the government take any special measures to help
    people like John Merrick?
We think that the goverment should take some special measures to help people like John Merrick because they have got some disabilities to make some things that normal people can do.
So they need this special measures to learnd how to do the things that for other persons are easy.
Also the government must take some special measures to help people so they can feel like the rest of people.

Mrs Mothershead: She was the “boss” of all the nurses. At first she didn't like Merrick, but finally she trust on him, fed him, made his bed, helped Treves taking care of John and protecting him from Mr Carr Gomm.
Mr Carr Gomm: He is the man who earned a lot money by showing Merrick to other people at nights without Treves' permission.

    e) It's a kind of circus where people with physical disabilities are shown to the audience and they make laugh of them by throwing tomatoes to the innocent people. No, fortunately no.

    CONCLUSION:
We think this situation can't happen nowadays as people will help them instead of laughing at them because we have grown up as people who care about human beings.
We should not pay attention to this differences because we are all equal, although some of us are white, others black, others have disabilities and others not, we are all humans.
We also are sure that the government should take special measures to help people like John Merrick, because maybe they can find a cure for the “illness” or at least try to help them by giving treatments and money to pay them.

14.-The Right to Seek a Safe Place to Live. If we are frightened of being badly treated in our own country, we all have the right to run away to another country to be safe.

    e)
A freak show is an exhibition of biological rarities, referred to as "freaks of nature". Typical features would be physically unusual humans, such as those uncommonly large or small, etc. I think that this doesn´t exist now.

    2.-
    a) I think so, but with other aspects. For example discriminate someone because it is different or it has different hobbies. It´s very common, and in many of these situations , we don´t realize.
    b) Respect, goodness, equality, valuation, honesty, etc.
    c) Yes, nowadays it helps more than in the past, but in a near future most of this measures are going to desapeared.

  16. THE ELEPHANT MAN

    Carmen Cruz and Ángela Flores

A)He was described as ''deformed in body, face, head and limbs. His skin, thick and pendulous hung in folds and resembled the hide of an elephant'' His head was so big that he had to sleep sitting up. He suffered macrocephaly; hyperostosis of the large skull; hypertrophy of long bones, thickened skin and subcutaneous tissues, particularly of the hands and feet, including plantar hyperplasia, lipomas, and other unspecified subcutaneous masses. He could talk with some difficulties due his lip deformity and his respiratory failure.
At some point during his childhood, Merrick suffered a fall and damaged his left hip. This injury became infected and left him permanently lame.

    B) Mr Carr Gomm
Gomm is the administrator of the London Hospital where Merrick is housed. His care of Merrick always appears to be self-serving.
Fredrick Treves is a surgeon who brings Merrick to the hospital for study. He appears to genuinely care about Merrick, but he hopes to garner attention from his association with him. In the end, Treves becomes disillusioned in his life and finds no satisfaction in his job or his family.
Mrs. Kendal is an actress who visits Merrick in order to provide some normal social interaction for him. She is not repulsed by Merrick’s appearance. Finding him to be charming and intelligent, she decides to introduce him to society.
Bytes is the manager of ‘‘The Elephant Man,’’ a freak show. He steals from Merrick and sends him back to London. Later, after Bytes reads that Merrick has become a celebrity, he visits him and suggests that they go back into business again.
Mrs Mothershead is the head nurse. At first she doesn't like Mr Merrick but she soon starts caring for him.

    C) Because at first he didn't talk.

    D) 1. We are all free and equal. We are all born free. We all have our own thoughts and ideas. We should all be treated in the same way.
     2. Don’t discriminate. These rights belong to everybody, whatever our differences.

    E) A freak show is an exhibition of biological rarities, referred to as "freaks of nature". Typical features would be physically unusual humans, such as those uncommonly large or small, those with both male and female secondary sexual characteristics, people with other extraordinary diseases and conditions, and performances that are expected to be shocking to the viewers. Heavily tattooed or pierced people have sometimes been seen in freak shows, as have attention-getting physical performers such as fire-eating and sword-swallowing acts.

    DEBATE:

    a) Yes, maybe not so radical but especially in third world countires people still make business with disabled people. For example in India gangs benefit from disabled beggars.
    b) We think that respect and tolerance are very important. We shoudn't judge people by their appearance, religion, culture, race, etc
c)Yes, they should help these people economically and  help them to be accepted by society
